About Me
I'm Ty, a Creative Director with 20+ years in design, the last decade spent leading and growing creative teams, and more recently steering the shift toward AI-augmented creative operations. I set creative direction and vision for brand design at a global scale, then build the systems, standards, and frameworks, increasingly powered by custom GPT tools and generative AI workflows, that keep that vision cohesive and unmistakably on-brand across every team and touchpoint.

I partner directly with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to align creative strategy with business goals, own budget planning and resource allocation for the creative function, and report against KPIs that tie creative output to brand performance and ROI. On the team side, I recruit, hire, and develop creative talent, run regular 1:1s and structured feedback, and manage the performance calibration that keeps a team healthy while growing the function, with AI fluency, executive communication, and stakeholder management built into that growth. I'm equally comfortable zooming out to set strategic vision and zooming in for precise, actionable feedback, with the executive presence to defend creative decisions, budget requests, and AI investment in front of senior leadership and stakeholders.

My hands-on experience spans environmental, broadcast, and in-store brand design, with fluency in Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, Monday.com, and a growing toolkit of AI tools, backed by the operational rigor to manage budgets, hit KPIs, and ship on time regardless of scale or complexity.

I've partnered with brands like MillerCoors, Coca-Cola, Vitaminwater, P&G, SPB Hospitality, Mohawk Flooring, Mars Inc., Corpay and BlueCross BlueShield to produce award-winning campaigns across digital, social, print, and multimedia. From rebrands to groundbreaking advertising work, every project reflects my commitment to pushing past conventional design and storytelling.

The Journey
After graduating with honors from Auburn University, I got my start at CNN creating broadcast graphics. From there, I made my way through Omnicom/TBWA, Humanaut, and the Mars Agency, crafting branding materials for the 2010 Sundance Official Selection documentary 8: The Mormon Proposition, and creating characters and illustrations for the children's book Confidence Is Key.

In 2018, my path took an unexpected turn: I was accepted into Chattanooga's Fire Academy. Six months later, I was a certified Firefighter and EMT, and spent the next three years fighting fires full-time while keeping my creative work alive alongside it. Since then, I've transitioned into volunteering as a Firefighter and Crisis Responder to focus fully on my passion for being a Creative Leader.

How I Lead
I believe the team is never separate from the creative solution; it is the creative solution. True innovation lives at the intersection of creativity, collaboration, and strategic insight. AI can only do so much; it's people who make the real creative magic happen.

Off the Clock
When I'm not working, you'll find me with family and friends, volunteering at the local fire station, boxing, writing, snuggling with dogs, or tinkering with tools.
